Network installation checklist for offices and shops in Lebanon

A practical checklist before, during and after a network installation in Lebanon: site survey, cabling, Wi-Fi, power protection, firewall, internet backup, documentation and monitoring.

A network that is installed well is invisible: the Wi-Fi works in every room, the POS never drops, and nobody knows where the cables are because nothing ever fails. A network installed badly is a daily problem. This checklist covers what to settle before the installer arrives, what to insist on during the work, and what to receive at the end. It reflects how CeevTech plans network installations for offices, shops and restaurants in Lebanon.

Before the installation

  • Site survey. Someone walks the premises, counts the devices (computers, printers, POS terminals, cameras, phones, access points) and notes walls, distances and where the internet line enters. Quotes without a survey are guesses.
  • Device list and growth. List what connects today and what will connect in two years. Cabling is cheap to add during the work and expensive afterwards.
  • Internet lines. Decide on the main line and a backup (a 4G router at minimum). In Lebanon a single line is a single point of failure.
  • Power. The rack, the router and the switches need a UPS so the network survives the gap between the cut and the generator. Decide what else must stay up: the POS, the cameras, the door system.
  • Where the rack goes. A ventilated, lockable spot away from water and heat, with power and the internet entry nearby.

During the installation

  • Structured cabling. Cat6 or better, run in trunking or conduit, with every cable labelled at both ends and terminated on a patch panel, not plugged straight into a switch.
  • Separate networks. Guest Wi-Fi isolated from the office or POS network; cameras on their own segment where possible.
  • Wi-Fi coverage. Access points placed from the survey, not from the nearest power socket. Test the signal in every room with a phone before the installer leaves.
  • Firewall. A proper firewall between the internet and the network, with remote access only through a VPN.
  • Addresses and names. Printers, POS terminals and cameras get fixed addresses; Wi-Fi networks get clear names and strong passwords; the default admin passwords on every device are changed.

After the installation

  • Documentation. A diagram, the cable labels, the device list with addresses, and every password, handed over in writing. If the installer disappears, the next technician can continue.
  • Backup of configurations. Router, firewall and switch configurations saved so a failed device can be replaced in an hour.
  • Monitoring. Someone, or something, watches the network and tells you before users do. CeevTech includes 24/7 monitoring in its network and IT support plans.
  • A test under load. Everyone connected, POS printing, cameras recording, Wi-Fi in use. Fix what appears now, not on opening day.
  • Support agreement. Who do you call, and how fast do they come? Agree it before you need it.

What CeevTech does

Frequently asked questions

How much does a network installation cost in Lebanon?

It depends on the size of the premises, the number of points and the equipment chosen, which is why CeevTech quotes after a site survey rather than by phone.

Do I need a UPS for the network?

Yes. Without one, every power cut drops the internet, the POS and the cameras until the generator takes over, and sudden power loss shortens the life of the equipment.

Should guest Wi-Fi be separate from the office network?

Yes. Guests should never be able to reach your computers, printers or POS. A separate, isolated guest network is standard practice.

What should I receive at the end of the installation?

A network diagram, labelled cables and patch panel, a device list with addresses, all passwords in writing, saved configurations and a tested, working network.
